I have never used fresh flowers on a cake before, always silk, and I was wondering about some different ways to put them on a cake. I have heard wrapping them and also putting them in little tubes with water. I have a lot of flowers to do, and only a short time to do it, so wrapping is too much time and out of the question.
I was wondering what you guys would think about wax.
So I was thinking about having a little thing of hot clear wax and dipping the ends in (and letting them dry, of course) before I jam them into/onto the cake. Do you think this would work?
I just want to make sure they don't leak in the cake.... |

I use a combination of the Wilton flower picks for larger stems, and drinking straws for the smaller stems. Just trim the straw about 2" long at an angle, and put your flower stem inside (making sure the stem is smaller than the straw and won't touch the cake). It goes pretty fast, I do it on-site when I deliver the cake. |

I wrapped saran wrap tightly around the stem and stuck them in, worked great! |

With tiger lillys I always pull away the brown endings that stick out, cause they can stain your cake |
