Seriously, the giant rose isn't hard, in my opinion. the big rose in the center is a whole stick of butter; 1/2 for the base 1/2 for the petals. I think the smaller ones ended up being 1 1/2 sticks of butter. They were a big hit once people realized it was butter and not frosting, LOL
wow those are huge. i've never even seen something like that. never seen the tip either, have to look now. the muffin rose is a great idea. i definately have to find that tip and try it sometime.
the butter roses are amazing. and such a great idea.

How funny....lol I'm gonna go get a huge hershy's kiss and make a gigantic
rose. What a neat idea for Valentine's or Easter. Maybe make it with flavored royal icing. It will take some strong hands to do too many in row. I use to work in a deli/bakery, I was a cake decorter . I learned how to be fast but I was always being pushed to go faster. It was all about production, no event was to be too personal or special. I did not like it. Love the customers hated the boss trying to tell me I was taking too much time with each individual. Like he would know....just alittle bitter...lol
I love the giant rose. Great Job!!!

A decorator I use to work with took a margarine lid and "glued" it to her regular flower nail with buttercream or royal icing and used that as her larger nail with the large rose tip. Wilton use to make a number 3 nail which is large enough for the large rose tip, but it is hard to come by now.

do you guys think that you could mold a base out of MMF for this huge rose, or would it just be too heavy?

I think MMF would work very well, actually it's better than I thought of, which was just very stiff BC, molded by hand after it begins to crust.
Beautiful GIGANTIC roses you guys! I may try one next week!
