I really would like to open up a business in the next year and thanks to everyone on this site I'm learning some valuable information. I've been thinking about creating a portfolio of cakes to show customers when I first open taking pictures of dummy cakes that I've created. I'm thinking about mainly doing wedding cakes but will keep all the doors open. My question is how many cakes would any of you suggest me using in my portfolio? |

i dont know about actual numbers, but i would suggest having a wide variety of styles represented. also, if you prefer one style/medium over another, show that. show your expertise. then you can have however many other cakes in nearby albums for deeper reference once they decide on basics. |

As many as you can! As you add to it and your skills improve, you will be able to go back and take out some of the early cakes, but right now, you want to impress upon people that you know what you're doing and THEIR important cake isn't your first. |
