You can use it on the sides of a book cake for the pages or on top of the cake to make rippled water (got that from Dawn). |

I just bought one of those too a couple of days ago. I used one when I worked at the bakery and they're great. I can't wait to play it |

if you ever do a farm cake they're also great for making rows in the "field". spray or dust alittle brown on them after you've combed a small area, and just us your imagination and a couple tips and you've just planted a field for the farmer! that was always my favorite "unique" use for it!! |

You can also use it on the side of a cake to give it a different look. I also have Wilton's cake sculptor which is fantastic. It has individual combs of different shapes that fit into plastic type handle and you could mix and match the pieces to make some stunning designs.

Tip- when using any type of cake comb, make sure you have a THICK layer of buttercream on the sides (so you don't accidentally scrape cake) and do it before your icing crusts. |

I have a cake comb and I've only used it a couple of times, but it saves on time since you don't have to worry about smoothing your sides. I'll post my picture of it as soon as I figure out how to stamp my picture for this sight. And yes, mouse is right, use a thick layer of icing. I didn't have enough icing on the sides but it turned out okay. |

I have a couple different cake combs and I use them all the time for rounds, squares. It saves having to smooth.I like using it combined with WBH icing as it is really smooth and creamy and makes it easy to glide the comb across. |
