Ohhh, I'm so sorry! My nephew had meningitis when he was a baby. Know how rough it is. Give yourself some time to rest and build up your strenght. When you are feeling better you can always do a special second party for her with close family and do the cake you wanted to do.
My nephew had two birthdays one year, because I was out of country for it, and he wanted me to be there. So when I got home we did another party.
Hope you get to feeling better soon!! |

I know it has to be so hard to order a cake, especially since you are so talented, but most important is that you recover completely! I hope you are feeling better soon!

Good for you for taking care of yourself! Trust me--you would regret making that cake YEARS from now when you knew full well you shouldn't. I know this for a fact from the year I had pnumonia and still hosted Thanksgiving for 38 people. And yes, they KNEW I had pnumonia, and still came over anyway! Crazy relatives. Crazy me. Anyway, I still wish I hadn't done it. Get yourself well! That's the best thing you could give your daughter anyway! |

just remember
having a mommy is more imporant -- by far -- than having a cake!
rest, relax, recuperate! and get the rest of the brood to wait on you hand and foot! |

Hi TamiAZ,
Sorry to hear that you are sick...sending you a get well soon.
Don't rush your recovery, take it easy and resume your activities a little at a time.
I was in the hospital in Dec. with pnuemonia for a week, came home that Sat.; got a call that Wed. for a Spongebob cake.
My mother told me not to do it, was to soon and I needed to get some strength back first... I didn't listen to her and did the cake. By the time I finished that cake, I felt like I had been in a fight. I had to actually crawl to the bathroom on my hands and knees because I couldn't walk after I laid down to rest.
So listen to hubby and take it easy. You can do your daughter a special second cake when you are back on your feet.
I had meningitis when I was 12...head felt like it was ready to explode |

OH NO!!! You do need to take care of yourself first though or you could be back in the hospital...I kinda know what you are feeling. We are going to Walt Disney World for my daughter's 6th birthday and so I am not gonna get to make her a cake. I am actually going to have to order one from their bakery on site and it is gonna kill me. I know I will sit and point out any flaw I can find in it just because I did not make it..LOL Well it is coming from Disney maybe it will be flaw free...HAHAHA
Get better soon!!!

On the positive side, many of us who ALWAYS BRING THE CAKE get taken for granted now and then, even by the most loving of families...folks need a chance to miss you every now and then to let them know what's what! YOu can always make him a small make-up cake later on when you are healthy! Take care! |

I hope your back to full health soon!
I only do cakes for fun & I would hate to order a cake for any reason - so I think I can understand how you feel.
I had a tough time making a cake for my dd baptism due to oven malfunctions & my dh suggested I go buy one & just didn't understand why I would go through the trouble of trying again after the first attempt failed.
You could just make her a small cake once you're feeling better & have a "private party" just for you & her!! |

I hope that you get back to feeling better, but don't worry about ordering, it happens to the best of us!
