Somehow we ended up with a handful of yellow cake mixes. I have no idea why I would have bought them. It's the butter recipe yellow Duncan Hines.
Any suggestions on what to do to make them less boring? The only idea I have is adding vanilla. I need to get the Cake Mix Doctor book! |

You can add flavored coffee creamers or add different flavors of pudding
You can also use flavored gelatin with a 'matching' liquid to change the flavor of the cake. I've done this to make a cranberry cake. Let me know if you'd like the recipe I use. You can use any flavor gelatin and juice. |

1 box white or yellow cake mix
1 3 oz flavored Jello
2/3 cup milk OR juice
2/3 cup oil
4 eggs
1 cup crushed fruit/berries (optional)
I've used this for strawberry and cranberry so far. For the strawberry, I use milk, jello and crushed strawberries. For the cranberry, I use jello, cranberry juice, and no berries. You can play around with it. |

Welp, its not a cake recipe but it does involve a yellow cake mix and HOLY COW IS IT GOOD!!!!
Cake Mix Cornbread
1 box yellow cake mix
2 boxes Jiffy cornbread
3 eggs
2/3 c. milk
2/3 c. water
Stir well. 9x13 pan. 400 degrees till brown, if it gets too brown on top cover with tin foil till done (approx, 30 -40 minutes)
Its so yummy you don't know whether to ice it or put butter on it!!!
Speaking of butter, I make honey butter to put on it. Just some real butter softened and add honey. So Yum!!!!!!! |

I just made this two days ago for a Microsoft event I was catering....and they absolutely LOVED it.....so did my 5 year old who claims "all my other cakes taste funny but not this one mum...I love it" with a face full of Choc Icing. His idea of dessert is potato chips...so when he asked for seconds I was quite proud! (better then anything anyone at Microsoft could have said)

Does anyone know if I'm allowed to post my Cake Mix Cornbread on CC's recipe area? I wasnt sure since it's technically not a cake.
