We're going to a 4th of July barbecue tomorrow. I am planning on bringing a cake. I have been dying to try a stacked cake with red and white stripes on the bottom and blue with white stars on top (there were several very pretty ones here...)
My question is - it is just too much to bring a two-tiered cake to a barbecue? I am not concerned about time or cost since I want to do it. But I don't want to have it be viewed as just over the top.
Thanks for any thoughts you share... |

That's what I was going to do for a cookout tonight...I got overruled because they wanted the Key Lime Mousse Cake I make because it is cold. I did dip some strawberries with white and blue chocolate, too. I say go for it...when that was my plan, I just figured I would leave some of the leftover cake for everyone to share.
My family is getting used to me going above and beyond on cakes! |

Hi Penny
No have fun with it. depending on the number of people, just do it on a smaller scale. Like a 6' and 10" cakes would be very nice and not over the top.
Have a good holiday, we in canada have already had ours.
