Hi everyone! I have been lurking awhile and finally joined up. I am doing a cake for my grandmothers 90th B-day. I will need to transport this cake about 3 hours and it will be set up outside. Mid August in the midwest is hot and HUMID. I am undecided on what I want to use to cover the cake. I can't decide between fondant, marzipan, or a candy clay type covering. What would hold up the best? I appreciate any feedback.

I can't be of much help but would love to hear the answers you get. I also live in the midwest and run into problems with buttercream when it's hot and humid. Good luck!

I would think fondant would work best with a crisco based (no butter) buttercream underneath. It should still be under a tent or out of the sun though.
