I just wanted to say that I have THE BEST cheerleader in the whole wide world. My daughter Emma is always by my side pumping me up when I'm working on something. I am "the most creative mommy in the whole wide world", the "very- best- cake- baker- ever", "doing a really great job"...... you get the idea. No matter if the cake sticks to the pan, the color looks like yuck, or it just plain isn't working out like I pictured it, she has an encouraging comment that makes me smile Very Happy .

I have just been doing the cake thing for fun but would really like to have a business eventually. I have so much more to learn. It is nice to have my little encourager (is that a word Confused ) by my side.
I am so stoked I sold my first cake this weekend (the Rangers cake) and my first cookie basket today. The smiles I got from my friends and compliments were great (the $$$ was too!) I felt like I was buzzing for a while afterward Laughing .
Thanks to everyone that posts on CC - you are all a blessing, and I pray you all have an "Emma" around to cheer you on.

That is soooo sweet!! It reminds me of my little boy (he's 3 years old). Every time I make a cake he gets so excited! If I'm making a shaped character cake as soon as I put the cake on a cooling rack he starts saying "WOW" like I'm already a cake superhero! Also, the whole time I'm making the cake, if he's not helping me, he keeps coming up to me saying "I love you" & giving me a hug. If only all critics were like them!!

I have wonderful cheerleaders also. My husband & three daughters.
One special memory is from a friends little boy. He is deathly allergic to milk. His mom finally found a cake recipe he could use. Icing as well. His mom asked me to make him a Tigger cake. The icing was canned icing. I was in tears; I thought it was hideous. He hugged me & said" Give yourself a pat on the back. It looks yummy." So now I say "Give yourself a pat on the back."

My 28 yr old daughter is my cheerleader. She show people my cake pics in CC and raves about them. She told me about a contest on Wilton website and when I said "oh I am not good enough to be in a contest " she said..."well I think you are and you need to quit putting yourself down. No wonder my selfesteem is like it is mom....I get it from you!" She said there are always going to be people better than you at cake decorating and people that You are better than at the same thing.
So yeah she is right....and she is a great cheerleader....

I am blessed with many. But the 3 that are important are my hubby, son who will be 16, and daughter soon to be 8. My husband jokes and teases but he does it with a huge smile and I know he loves the cake. When I did my gordon cake I don't know how it survived my house of earnhardt fans Very Happy My son is so in to my cakes he points out the flower on cakes at wal-mart and says yours are so much better mom. And for speech class did a speech about baking cakes. At the end of his speech said I could decorate this cake for you but I will leave that up to my mom cause she does an awesome job. Gotta love um. And my DD wants to decorate cakes just like mommy. We are having a cake decorating party for her B-Day in Oct. We are going to make her haunted castle cake together. She has listened to all the ideas that have been givin to me thanks to this site of wonderful people. And of course we browse through pics together. I am very thankful for my family Very Happy

I have a 6 year old Emma who is my cheerleader too! She dedicated a journal page last year to me and said I made the 'Best Cakes in the whole world'

Of course...the kids love it when I make cakes, they get the scraps, lick the bowls, spatulas and oh the yummy icing always left over!
