I have to carve a cake in the shape of a horse. What is the best way to do this? I know that I can trace the shape onto the cake. What do I do to carve though...do I freeze the cake first? HELP! |

freezing does make carving easier...makes for less gouging |

I have a horse that I carved in my photos...I piled up cakes and carved wthen they were still a bit frozen. If you don't do it while they are frozen, the cake will most likely crumble into pieces!! Good luck |

I would freeze them first. This helps to keep it from being crumbly. Also, use a good dense cake. |

Wow...jdogga...I love your cakes!!! I can't imagine ever getting that good. How long have you been doing this?
I am scheduled to take course 3 for Wilton mid september. Will I learn how to work with fondant in that class? I'm so anxious to learn how to do fondant. |
