For sugar cookies, I've tried texture mats on top of (crusted) buttercream without great success.

Does anyone have advice about what icing tastes best and looks good using texture mats on cookies ...

I don't know if this would be the same, but for moss green-- I mixed green icing and orange icing-- tint lightly-- you can always add more. I was really surprised at this suggestion, but it worked!

Can't you just use non-toxic markers? They are non-toxic after all.
I've wondered that too. The tiny bit that you'd use and many times it's on something that someone wouldn't eat anyway.
