if you can't get your hands on any tylose then next time use half gumpaste/half fondant if you want to minimize the squishiness.

I think those flavors sound fantastic together, and I myself have been known to use 3 fillings in a cake, or at least 2 fillings plus the icing.

Was going to say what Texas_Rose said but she beat me to it. If you don't want to use something else e.g. licorice as suggested above, you'll want straight gumpaste for this.

The red shouldn't fade much unless it is left out in the light (direct or indirect sunlight). Just keep the fondant/cake in a dark place and it will be fine Thumbs Up!

A friend of mine found a compromise with this - she provided her decorator with satin ribbon to go around the cake tiers, and she (the bride) had embedded the crystals in the ribbon.
