Just want to say thanks to everyone for their comments and advice! It wasn't nearly as nerve-wracking as I expected. The couple sat nicely on the edge of the cake with the help of just a bit of royal ...

I like the pipe cleaner idea. Thumbs Up! They would stay nice and straight. I'll have to remember that if I do this cake again.

What a relief! I thought it would be OK with royal underneath and maybe even a bit on the back of their legs but read a few stories on other forums where the couple fell off the cake at one point. I'm ...

Has anyone had any luck with these toppers designed to perch on the edge of the cake? I've heard some scary disaster and near disaster stories. I had hoped that some royal icing would hold it in place ...

I do something similar. I make a topper on a smaller cake board (e.g. a 4- or 6-inch board for an 8-inch cake) and insert dowels into the cake so that the topper sits just above the buttercream. I usu ...

Thanks Linda. I like the way you did your waves and that's my next choice if I can't track down this photo.

The other cake was described as a curved piece of fondant running along the bottom as a b ...
