Tick tock, ring in the New Year with these top clock cakes.
A clock cake for my grandfather
This is the second clock cake I’ve made. I don’t know what it is with these people who walk into my bakery with a photo of a clock and want it on a cake–weird. All buttercream with free-handed design.
All fondant quilling clock made for the Springtime Show 2010. Won first prize – gold.
The gingerbread clock is made entirely out of gingerbread. It won First Place and Best in Division at the 2011 Great American Cake Show in Westminster, MD. It took about 12 hours from start to finish.
I made this for a Watchmaker’s birthday The faceplate, weights and pendulum are sculpted out of modeling chocolate and the pliers are made of gumpaste. This is a four layer chocolate cake with chocolate swiss meringue and white chocolate frosting.
It turned out ok. Wasn’t really pleased. The top had a lean to it. The faces on all sides are traced onto rice paper with edible ink. All edible except support rods and cake circles (squares).
This was our cake for a Hawaiian New Years Party. So many inspirations from CC members. I’m sorry I didn’t keep track of the 3-4 main ones I inspired this cake from. It’s champagne cake covered in MMF with champagne flavoring and then RI roman numerals and hands for the clock. Once dried they were luster dusted and a mini-bottle of champagne added with fake ice chips and a Hawaiian plumeria out of gumpaste finished it off. Enjoy and thank you to all!!!
Got the idea from the Martha Stewart Cupcake book. We thought it was perfect for New Years so we couldn’t wait to try it out.
Bridal shower cake with fondant top and gum paste accents. The client wanted the green, blue and pink added plus make the clock look vintage. Think I would have prefered this cake in a different color combination!

My Dads 65th birthday and retirement cake By shanijo
My dad is mad on clocks so i wanted to do something special for his birthday and retirement. The cake stands 26 1/4 inches tall. The base is fruit cake and the rest of the cake is made from Polystyrene. I covered the cake with m&b brown sugarpaste, gold dust for the edges and acetate to replicate glass.
Watch Box By ilovebc2
A mini cake for a co-worker who loves watches. The “box” was made with modelling chocolate. The “rope” is also modelling chocolate and I pushed it through my extruder to give it a velvet look. Everything else was fondant.
