Friday Faves: Harry Potter, Deep Sea Decor and a Mini Tea Party

As editors of Cake Central Magazine, we come across countless  inspiring things every day. From cakemakers’ stories to wedding inspiration to cool new products, we want to share a few of our favorite finds with you every week. This week our cakemakers went from Hogwarts to the deepest depths of the ocean, and made it back in time for tea!  Here are this week’s Friday Faves!

Mermaid Cake

Mermaid Cake By marinoldcakes
Mermaid theme cake and cookies. The mom didn’t want any mermaid figures in the design, so I used some elements in the mermaid’s habitat and made them fancy, whimsy, and mythical. Vanilla cake and strawberry crusting buttercream.

MARINOLDCAKES’s mermaid themed cake is stunning. The colors really make me feel as if I am glimpsing a magical world under the sea.

I am in total awe of all of the tiny, intricate details on these cookies! It’s impressive how sugar_rush_cupcakes11 managed to incorporate a whole rainbow of colors on these small creations.

A Harry Potter-themed book cake for Lauren’s 25th Birthday. The original design is by Sweet Blossom Cakes, who was gracious enough to even tell me how to make the Hogwarts crest for the front of the book. (It’s modeling chocolate in a mold made from a fridge magnet.) The leather texture was created by rolling scrunched up foil on the fondant. Thank you, Divine Cakes! This cake started life as a quarter sheet cake. I cut it in half and stacked it up, so it became a 9” x 6” rectangle, 5” high and served 27 people with 1×2” portions.

This birthday cake by EnglishCakeLady has inspired me to have my own Harry Potter-themed party! I absolutely love the leather texture and the intricacy of the crest and golden snitch. Ten points for Gryffindor!
