Paula Despres was one of the many talented cake decorators in the April issue of Cake Central Magazine. She shared some behind the scenes photos of her work on the cake she made for our ombre photo spread, and told us about the importance of inspiration.
“Just when you thought you probably could never come up with a new idea, then someone sends you a photo for inspiration and wants you to create some more magic, and “voila” you seem come up with that brand new idea. Who would have thought that there was more to be made? I just have to say that there’s no room for boredom in the cake business. Sometimes you just have to be patient and the ideas will come. I do believe that a lot of ideas do come from our passions in life, therefore we try to pass those ideas along in an art form and hope that we convey that same passion that we have,” says Paula.
Paula has been decorating for 40 years and now works with her husband Jacques at Jacques Fine European Pastries in Suncook, NH, US.
