Apple Pie Cake Tutorial

This week we are Mixing-It-Up in the kitchen with a fun cake in the shape of an apple pie! People won’t believe it’s really a cake! It’s perfect for any Thanksgiving table or fall birthday.

LOOK DOWN BELOW for all the materials you’ll need.

WHAT YOU NEED:

Cake- baked in 5-inch Pot Pie disposable pan
Buttercream

MATERIALS

*8 ounces of white Fondant
Brown gel
*Pre-dyed fondant: red, brown, lime green (or dye with gels)
Rolling pin
Cornstarch
Vegetable shortening
Piping gel
Brush
Paring Knife
Granulated sugar
Veining tool, Scalpel, ball tool
Petal dust: brown, ivory and yellow

*(Fondarific brand is suggested- http://fondarific.com)

STEPS:
1) Bake cakes in tins
2) Coat in buttercream
3) Freeze cake
4) Roll-out (8oz)fondant to 7-inch circle
5) Cover cake
6) Details on cake
7) Dust with petal dust
8) Brush with piping gel
9) Sprinkle with granulated sugar
10) Make apple
