A Message from Kerry Vincent

cake central magazine cover preview - march 2010

Dear All at Cake Central:

I have good news on this day, Australia Day, in fact I have had a bit of a grin on my face all day.
So many good things happening, I hardly know which order to put them in.
Indeed I have had a very fortunate life.

I am very grateful to be the cover girl of the inaugural issue for Cake Central magazine; add to that things to share about being a competitor on reality TV. Rather nice at my age to be a ‘cover girl’ don’t you think? Readers have many questions about where I came from and where I have been. I think they will be more than happy to find a glimpse of my personal story.

This is not the only news that is breaking in my life, there is more and it follows.

BRIDES MAGAZINE WEDDING STYLE DIRECTOR MARIA McBRIDE WRITES:

<<January 25, 2010 I am delighted to announce that your cake will be included in BRIDES March 2010 issue celebrating America’s Most Beautiful Cakes. Thank you for creating an exceptional cake for our annual showcase of America’s best sugar artists. Your technique is truly beautiful and will be an inspiration to readers. The issue goes on sale February 9. Congratulations, it’s a pleasure to feature your design. Sincerely, Maria McBride Wedding Style Director.>>

HALL OF FAME ANNOUNCEMENT

MATTHEW STEVENS, Editor, Dessert Professional announces that:

<<The April issue of Dessert Professional will feature our selections of the inaugural Top Ten Cake Artists in America; awarded to cake professionals whose dedication to their craft has ensured that the cake continues to be our premier celebratory dessert. From the Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show, to the Food Network, and innovative sugar techniques Kerry Vincent has promoted (and demanded) fine cake artistry long before the cake became a TV star.

After initially listing Kerry as one of the sure Top Ten selections, I realized that the breadth of her contributions placed her in a different category than the very talented cake artists on the Top Ten list.

So, as one who embodies the spirit of the award, I have invited Kerry to become Dessert Professional’s first Cake Artist Hall of Fame inductee. There is no candidate more deserving of being the inaugural inductee.>>

This is my second Hall of Fame Award.

++ ANOTHER BIG STORY for American Culinary Federation members will appear in the National Culinary Review, February issue out soon.

Best wishes,

Kerry.

  8. Terrific news and Congratulations! I was a bride nearly 26 years ago so haven’t had a need for bridal magazines, but I’ll be buying the March issue of Bride magazine to see your gorgeous contribution. I’m sure it’ll be nothing less than spectacular.

Now…when will we see you and Patrick Costen competing on a FoodNetwork Cake Challenge??? I’d love that!

  9. Congratulations Kerry! The awards are well deserved.
Since I live so close to Tulsa I’ve had the pleasure of meeting you at ICES gatherings, watching some of your demonstrations and working with you as a volunteer at the Sugar Art Show.
At an ICES meeting in Sapulpa in 2005 you graciously autographed my copy of your book, Romantic Wedding Cakes. I felt especially lucky when you explained that I had a U.S. edition which features the “wedding cake cover” you fought so hard to have printed.
Thank you for all of the wonderful inspiration!

  10. Congratulations Kerry! You deserve every bit of it and much more. There are no awards large enough to properly commend and thank you for all you’ve contributed to this industry. Cover girl – for sure and cover story for sure. I am thrilled to see the well deserved recognition. HURRAY!!!!

  15. Congratulations Kerry on your accomplishments! You are an expert who has given so much. I enjoyed your article published in Desert Professional. I look forward to reading your missive in the new Cake Central Magazine.

  16. Iam awesomelly excited by this new magazine. I think it was a great idea to have introduce the first issue. I do agree i was set back by the price a little, but said to myself the prices for alot of the overseas magazines is way more expensive, and the fact that this one comes out more frequently is a plus. It is well worth the price to get a teaching magazine, because as we who are not professional,(but have a passion for decorating well know ) we hunger for some professional guidance and to have those baker’s secrets revealed!! Thats what attracted me to this particular magazine, some of the others i wanted to order let you know that there would be no teaching and tips, just cakes. I can look at cakes for free on the net. So any projects given in this magazine will be worth it $5.00 per issue.

    good luck guyz

  17. Kerry, you are deserving of every title they can bestow on you!! You are a true inspiration to us all!!! I’ll be looking for that magazine for sure!!
