Lemon Pound Cake

Posted by LaurelC I've made MANY pound cakes and keep going back to this one. It's FAR better than Ina Garten's Lemon Pound Cake. It has a very dense texture and is very moist. You can change the flavor by changing the yogurt flavor. I have a lemon pound cake in the oven, but next time I make it, I think I'll try vanilla yogurt, vanilla beans, and no lemon peel. Ingredients 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour 2 cups sugar ½ tsp. baking soda ½ tsp. salt 1 tsp. grated lemon peel 1 tsp. vanilla 1 cup butter or margarine, softened 1 cup (2-6 oz. cartons) lemon... read more

Cappuccino Triple Chocolate Sour Cream Pound Cake

Posted by LindaWolff Very dense cake. Good for carving. Batter will produce three 8" rounds, or two 9". I usually use the 8" and it creates a very tall and dramatic dessert type of cake. Cake is so extremely rich, that a very small piece goes a long way. My husband loves it best with a good cup of cappuccino or espresso. This cake is reminiscent of desserts we enjoyed while living in Germany almost 40 years ago. I've added the two frosting recipes here as well, since they make the cake what it is as a whole. Ingredients Cake ingredient: 2 1/2 cups cake... read more

Coconut Pound Cake

Posted by tokazodo I was searching for a coconut cake recipe today and I stumbled across one that used a boxed cake mix. I tweaked it a few times and this is what turned out. I am very satisfied with it and the taste and texture is awesome. I tripled the recipe. I able to get 2, 12" X 2" layers, 1, 6" X 3" layer and 8 cupcakes. I wanted the cupcakes to display around the tiered birthday cake, but I don't think they will make it! They are too delicious! Ingredients 3 boxes of White Cake Mix 1 - 14 ounce can of Cream of Coconut (not a type 'O'!) 1 1/2 cups... read more
