Coca-Cola Cake

Posted by mburkett I got this recipe from a chocolate class in a culinary program at a local JC years ago. I'm not sure where it originally came from but it's been a family favorite for many years. I'm not sure how well it would translate to a layer cake for decorating. If that's what you need, then I wouldn't use the marshmallows on top. (It makes it gooey & bumpy). I've only done it in a 9x13 pan I usually use Pepsi because I'm Pepsi loyal. Ingredients Cake 2 cups sugar 2 cups flour ½ cup vegetable oil 3 tablespoons cocoa 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted... read more

Red Velvet Cake and Icing

Posted by brandy7909 Found this on another site and tried it out tonight, was delish! I didn't add any red food coloring (all out, oh well) and just a dollop of BC icing and it was a HIT! I used the 2 cups of sugar and 1 cup of oil method since that was a comment on the recipe and a lot of people commented that it was better this way and I have to agree! At the suggestion of the commenter I also skipped the vinegar, and just tossed the baking soda in with the flour. I guess it is your call on what to use but this is a great basic recipe. FYI just recently learned you... read more

Best Chocolate Cake

Posted by pastrygirls This is something I've been perfecting for a while now, and it's flawless. Its a basic chocolate cake, but you need to use the darkest cocoa powder you can find. When it bakes, it's almost black. The batter is very thin, and you need to till the pans at least 3./4 full. They take a long time in the oven, but are always moist. No need for simple syrup (actually dont soak it, because it falls apart its so moist). This is also sturdy enough to stand up to carving. All of my recipes are in grams, so you'll need to either convert it or get a small... read more

Turtle Cake

Posted by ChattyGourmet Amazing presentation created with the wonderful flavors of the chewy, crunchy chocolate caramel candies! I used chocolate icing, pecans and the caramel portion came into play in the form of the cake. If you do not have a large serving glass like this, make it in a trifle serving dish or into a typical 3 layered cake. Anyway you dish it up, it is sure to impress! Ingredients Cake 2 1/2 cups of cake flour sifted 1 teaspoon of baking soda A dash of salt 3/4 cups of Smart Balance brand butter or regular butter 1 1/2 cups of brown... read more
