Indydebi's Crisco-Based Buttercream Icing

Posted by indydebi I was given this recipe over 25 years ago by a friend and it's the only icing recipe I've ever used. (I actually didn't know there were other "wedding cake icing" recipes out there!). All measurements are approximate since I'm a "until it looks right cook". Too thin? Add more sugar. Too thick? Add more milk. Luv the flavor of vanilla? Throw lots of it in there! This icing crusts VERY well and holds up great in extreme heat and humidity (passed the "sat outdoors in 90 degrees in August humidity in Indiana for over 5 hours" test!) Indydebi's... read more

Perfect White Chocolate Ganache Frosting Perfected

Posted by Ladyfish74 After much trial and error and following other recipes with little success, I finally figured out a recipe for white chocolate ganache' frosting that works every time. This is not for poured ganache' , although you could probably use it that way before it sets, this is for white ganache' to use as a frosting either under fondant or alone. Ingredients 1. 3 cups of white chocolate chips (either Hershey's, Nestle's, or the larger candy melts) DO NOT SUBSTITUTE WITH ALMOND BARK. This is a big mistake....I know..I tried it. Do not use shaved... read more

Creamy Banana Filling

Posted by cakelady11215 This is the most delicious banana filling I've ever had - and it's incredibly simple! I found it years ago posted by Kim La but I actually just saw the same one posted somewhere else with no credit given. Anyway, here it is: Ingredients 3/4 cup evaporated milk 3/4 cup granulated sugar 2 egg yolks 3 tbsp butter 1 mashed banana (I use at least 2) 3/4 cup chopped nuts (personally never used nuts, it doesn't need them!) 1 tsp vanilla Instructions Cook milk, sugar, egg yolks and butter over medium heat, stirring... read more
