quick and easy chocolate cake

Speedy but so yummy.


  • 8oz self raising flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 8oz butter 8oz caster sugar 3 eggs 4 tablespoons cocoa powder 200g melted chocolate


Preheat oven to 190c. Put all ingredients into a mixer and blend until smooth. Pour into two 7 inch cake pans. Bake for 25-30 mins, turn out straight away and allow to cool on a wire rack. This cake is great for covering in fondant, buttercream, ganache etc. Very often the filling and topping I use is ganache, it's incredible.

Where can I find a conversion chart for the baking temp and ounce and gram weights? Thanks! hope this helps.
Can I use regular flour or does it have to be self rising??
Also what is castor sugar and can I just use regular sugar??Sorry about all the questions!!
do you think this would make one 12 inch cake OK??
