Cinnamon Swirl Cake

I used to make the boxed BC cinnamon swirl cake, but can't find it anymore. I found this recipe, which is an awesome replacement! My customer said it tasted just like a Cinnabon!!

Cinnamon Swirl Cake


  • 1 box yellow cake mix 1 sm. box instant vanilla pudding 1 c. water 1 c. vegetable oil 4 eggs 2 tbsp cinnamon 6 tbsp brown sugar


Mix first four ingredients. Add eggs one at a time. Beat well with electric mixer. Pour 1/2 batter in pan. Meanwhile mix cinnamon and brown sugar together. Sprinkle half over half the batter in pan. Add rest of cake dough, sprinkle rest of sugar mixture on top, swirl the dough with a knife. Put in 350 degree oven. Bake 45 minutes. Do not open the door until 45 minutes is up. (It took 60 minutes baking time).

What kind of frosting is a good compliment to this cake recipe? Cream cheese I am guessing but anything else? Thanks for sharing this recipe, it sounds delicious!

Have you used it with mm fondant? Would it taste ok with that?
I made this as one of the flavors for my daughters birthday cake and everyone raved about it! I frosted it with a cream cheese butter cream and then covered it with MMF. Thanks for the recipe, it's amazing!
maybe a silly question, but do you make the pudding and then add it, or do you just add the contents of the box of pudding? im assiuming you just add the yellow cake box contents, so i guess its the same with the pudding??

apple filling was amazing with this!!! i served it as a cake choice at a tasting for hubby's friend... he decided he "had to have cinnamin swirl with apple filling, no doubt about it!" thanks for a fabulous recipe!

This cake is so awesome. Great cake and even good for breakfast. Paired it with a cinnabon cream cheese icing. A new fav!
