Chocolate Crack

I cannot take credit for this recipe. I am posting it in the recipe section because I had seen it in a thread, wanted to make it but then I couldn’t find it again, and just recently saw someone else was looking for the receipe. Figured I’d post it here so it was easy for everyone to find in the future.

Ingredients

  • 1 foil lined and PAM sprayed cookie sheet
  • 1 box graham crackers
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) real butter (if you use unsalted like I do then add ½ tsp salt)
  • 1 bag choco chips
INSTRUCTIONS
Place crackers on a large cookie sheet, completely covering the bottom in a single layer. You can break up the crackers to fit. Pre-heat oven to 350. Put brown sugar and butter (and salt if needed) into a small sauce pan and bring to a boil. Stir frequently with wooden spoon while butter is melting. Once it starts to boil stir constantly for 5 minutes. Immediately pour over graham crackers. Smooth out as evenly as possible to cover all of the crackers. Bake for 10 mins. Remove from oven and sprinkle the whole bag of choco chips over the hot crackers. Wait about 30 seconds for chips to melt then spread like icing over entire pan of crackers. Place immediately into fridge or freezer and let them cool till rock hard. Once completely cooled break the crackers up into roughly 2×2 jagged pieces. Try not to eat it all at one sitting. I dare you

thanx for posting "my" recipe...I say it that way 'cause I found it in a mystery book and just fell in LOVE with it! I knew everyone here would love it!

My sister and I have made pretty much the same version as this but, using saltines and adding chopped nuts on top of the chocolate. We called it Christmas bark I believe. Delicious!!!

Paula Deen has a recipe for this too. She uses saltines and calls it Pine Bark. I've used Ritz Thin Crisp crackers before with sliced almonds on top. It's so good! I would make it for the girls at work and call it PMS candy because it was salty and sweet!

We call it Brickle Bars and use saltines and chopped pecans. Delish!! Totally agree it's great PMS food. :)

Someone at work just brought these in yesterday, but with Skor bits sprinkled on top. They were delicious! Gonna make some myself this weekend! ;-)
